How to export Figma to EPS files in one click using Convertify

Today I'm going to be showing you how to export your designs from Figma to EPS, or Figma to PostScript with one click, using the Convertify Figma plugin.

To get started, if you just go to the file that you want to export from Figma to EPS and then click on this "Resources" icon up in the top header of the Figma toolbar, and then just search for the Figma plugin called "Convertify", you'll see Convertify pop-up. You can go ahead and click on either the "Run" button or click on these three dots on the side where it says "More options and click "Save plugin", and that'll save it to your Figma plugins list.

Once you've got it saved, you can either run the Figma plugin by just clicking the "Run" button here, or you can right click anywhere on your page, go down to "Plugins" and then under "Saved plugins" you'll see Convertify pop up. I've already got it in my recent Figma plugins list, I'm just going to click on the "Convertify" Figma plugin from there and that's going to run the Figma plugin that we just looked at a second ago. When the Figma plugin runs for the first time, all you need to do is make sure that you're on the right page; for this example I'm just going to convert this CV from Figma to an EPS file. All we need to do is make sure we're on this page and it's going to convert every single artboard or frame on the Figma page, and it's going to convert each of those into its own EPS file. All we need to do is click on "Convert to EPS" and that's going to start the conversion process of taking that frame and exporting it to an EPS file from Figma.

It was really quick, as this is a pretty small design. The EPS file is ready, so I'm just going to click on the "Download .eps", button save that to my desktop, and if I open up my finder you'll see that we've now got the EPS file there. I can preview that by just by double clicking on it, and I'm just on Mac, so it's going to actually convert that into a PDF so that you can preview it, but you can actually send that EPS file or open that EPS file with other programs as well. Typically, if you're going to be printing your designs or you're going to send your designs to a professional printer, usually they'll ask for an EPS PostScript file; this can be handy for that.

That was an example of how to convert one page or one frame to an EPS file, but if you've got multiple frames; for example this presentation here, I might want to export a bunch of these frames out from Figma to EPS. Again, I can just run the Figma plugin by right-clicking anywhere, going down to "Plugins" and clicking on the "Convertify" Figma plugin, and that's just going to open up the Figma plugin that we just looked at in the other file a second ago. I've got it saved to my Figma plugins list, so I can quickly access it again. To convert these frames from Figma to EPS, we have a couple of options; we can do the same option as before, so if we click on this "Convert to EPS" button again, it's going to take each of these frames, parent level frames or "artboards", it's going to take each of those, and export them out to an individual EPS file.

If we only want a few of these, what we can do is actually click on the artboards that we want to export from Figma to EPS, and you can see here at the bottom of the Figma plugin it comes up with this little pop-up menu, and it's going to say only "Convert the selected top level parent frames"; you can see if you open up this we've got our three frames or artboards selected here, and then all you need to do is click on this drop down list here and just change that to "EPS". I'm going to click on "EPS" and then I'm going to click on "Convert layers to EPS" and what that's going to do is it's going to take just those three artboards, the "Intro", "Principle 1" and "Principle 2"; it's going to take those three artboards only, and it's going to process each of those into their own EPS file and then zip them up for us so we can download them.

It's just finishing up frame number three now; in a second once that completes, we should get a button to download this EPS package; the converted files are ready all we need to do is click on the download EPS button again; I'm going to click on that button save this to my desktop and this time because we converted more than one it's gone ahead and zipped up those EPS files for us. I'm just going to unzip the zip file and double click on the folder, and you can see here we've got our three EPS files this time. That's just a really quick way of only exporting the artboards that you actually want from Figma out to an EPS file, instead of converting the entire page each time. If again if we did click on this "Convert to EPS" button, it would convert this entire page; each of these artboards on the page would get exported from Figma to their own EPS file, but if you only need a couple, then just select those ones that you need, and then you can click on this little drop down at the bottom to make sure "EPS" is selected; then click on "Convert layers to EPS" and that'll do it for you.
