How to spell check Figma presentation slides using Pitchdeck

Today I'm going to be showing you how to spell check your slides in a Figma presentation using the Pitchdeck Figma plugin.

The first thing we need to do, if you haven't already done so, is just go to the Figma Community by going to the top left, and searching for the word "Pitchdeck"; and under the "Plugins" tab you'll see a result called "Pitchdeck Presentation Studio" pop-up. If you haven't already installed it, you'll see an "Install" button on the right hand side; you can go ahead and click that, and then we can jump back into our project.

Now that we're back, I'm just going to launch the Figma plugin by right-clicking anywhere, going down to "Plugins" and clicking on the "Pitchdeck Presentation Studio" item. That's going to load up the Figma plugin that we just installed, and you can see here we've got all of our slides. I'm not going to cover all of this detail, as I've covered a lot of this stuff in other YouTube videos; if you want to have a look at how to animate things or actually export these presentations, I do have a number of other videos on the YouTube channel for that, but today we're just going to be looking at spell checking our slides.

This is a new feature in the Figma plugin, and we can access it by clicking on this little "check" icon in the top header here; if I click on that, you'll see a little panel slide out and this is going to let us spell check our Figma slides for spelling errors. By default, it selects "English (United States)" as the language, but if we click on that select box, you can see we've got a whole bunch of different language options here that we can choose from. You might have your designs in a completely different language, and if that's the case, you can just click on any of those and that would select that language. Today, I'm just going to be using the "English (Australia)" version, so I'm going to click on that, and then once you've selected your language all you need to do is click on the "Find Spelling Mistakes" button and that's just going to spell check our Figma design.

It's just checked it and found six different spelling errors in our Figma slides. We can take a look at those now, so we've got "design" which is spelled incorrectly with two e's, we've got "good" with too many o's, "innovative" is spelled incorrectly, "principles" is spelt incorrectly, we've got this spelling mistake here and this one here. We can go through these pretty quickly and individually, so the first thing we can do is just we can see here that the spelling error is showing up here. I'm just going to correct that by clicking on the correct option, so in this case I'm going to click on "design", and you can see there it's just instantly corrected the word "design" to the correct spelling.

I can also undo that if I made a mistake; if I picked the wrong one I can click on the "Undo" button that just undoes the spelling error correction; then you can pick a brand new one if you want, and you can undo that; it's really quick just to change it and then undo it. This one underneath is a little bit different, because it has three different places in the design where the spelling is different; what I can do is I can actually inspect where all those are located. I can open this up and if I click on the little "search" icon, that's just going to instantly jump to the place where the spelling errors occurred. You can see here we've got one here, we've got another one down here, and we've got another one down here in slide 10.

The cool thing is I can correct all of these at the same time by just doing the same thing as before and clicking on the correct spelling. I'm just going to click on "good" and you can see here it's changed it, but it's actually changed all three. If we go back to the other two, you can see those have been changed as well and just like before we can undo those, and that will undo all of them. Then we can change it back to the correct one if we want as well, and then it's really easy just go through all of them just click on the right spelling. I'll just change this one, I'll just change this one and "useful".

Then again for this one, this is a little bit ambiguous, we don't know what the context is. I'm just going to open up the spelling flag again and click on this little "search" icon and jump to that. In the context of this sentence, it's actually meant to be "thorough", so "good design is thorough down to the last detail". The first suggestion is "throughout", but that's actually wrong, so you want to always check the context and make sure that it's the right spelling. I'm just going to change that to "thorough" and click on that, and that will correct the spelling in Figma.

That's really all there is to it; it's a brand new feature in the Pitchdeck presentation Figma plugin which lets you design and animate and export presentations from Figma to a web-based presentation tool, or you can export it to PowerPoint files, Keynote files Google Slides, or just a PDF file. This is a brand new feature that lets you just double check all of your spelling before you actually export the frames from Figma to a slide deck, and I hope you find it useful in your own workflow.
